Kathmandu is a city with medieval atmosphere, with a great number of Hindu temples , Buddhist stupas and monuments . Often called an open museum of mediaval arts and architecture, it has a lot to offer its visitors. Kathmandu, along with neighbouring towns of Patan and Bhaktapur has seven UNESCO declared world heritage sites.

We explore these heritage sites of Katmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur on this tour and walk through the old quarter of the town to show you the lively traditional market. Kathmandu is a valley with lovely green hills all around and the Himalayan peaks standing behind them.On a clear day, you can see them from the city itself.

A 1.5 hr drive from Kathmandu will take us to Nagarkot where you can see the green hills and the Himalayan panorama all around. The sunsets and the sunrise on the Himalayas is superbly beautiful and short walks along the forested ridge is also enjoyable.

Itinerary

Day 01: Guided sightseeing tour of Kathmandu
Day 02: Guided sightseeing tour of Patan and Bhaktapur, overnight in Nagarkot. Sunset view on the Himalayas, hike around the hill.
Day 03: Early morning sunrise view on the Himalayas.Drive back to Kathmandu, fly back home.

You can add optional mountain flight on this tour. This will be an one hour flight along the Himalayas, mostly aimed to show you Mt Everest and more. Click Nepal Mountain Flight for more information. This can be done either on day 1 or day 2. A mountain flight will be a good decision, the best highlight of the trip.

An Alternative Itinerary

Day 1: Guided tour of Patan and Bhaktapur, drive to Nagarkot, hiking around, sunset tour.
Day 2: Sunrise tour, drive back to Kathmandu, guided tour of Kathmandu.
Day 3: Free time on your own , fly back home.

This second itinerary is useful if you have early flight to your onward destination on third day, as it can be late to reach to airport all the way from Nagarkot.
Also as this is a short tour, we can better customize the tour depending on your arrival and departure schedules. If you arrive early on the day, we can do some tour same day. And also we can include some programmes if you depart late on day 03.
