Mt. Kailash Tour
Tour to Mount Kailash
Mt Kailash tour - amazing as well as challenging trip to the pristine lake Manasarovar and Holy Mt.Kailash in remote western Tibet.
In the far western corner of Tibetan Plateau lie two spectacular tourist desnations – mount Kailash and lake Manasarovar. This is a very remote part of Tibet, reachable after four days of continuous drive across the vast Tibetan plateau ( or after a week of interesting trek from Simikot in western Nepal). At the end of the drive we reach a extremely beautiful turquoise lake with the floating swans and the spectacular mount Kailash .For Hindus Mt Kailash is the abode of Lord Shiva. Both Lake Manasarovar and Mt Kailash have religious significance for both Hindus and Buddhists. Four great rivers originate from Lake Manasarovar – the Indus, Karnali, Bramhaputra and the Sutlej.
Mt Kailash 6741 m, is a black mountain with four sheer walls and snow capped top. The 53 km periphery is the trail for circumambulation around this holy mountain and takes 3 days. The Khora or circumambulation starts at Darchen some 30 Km from lake Manasarovar. During this tour, we enjoy great view of world's highest mountains, meet the nomad sheep herders and enjoy the unique beauty of Tibetan desert. We travel on 4WD jeep and our belongings are carried on trucks. We sleep in guest houses wherever possible and in tented camps at other places. Food is cooked by our camp cook. Back at Kathmandu, we celebrate your Mount Kailash tour with farewell Nepali dinner.
