Manaslu is no more a restricted area
The government of Nepal has decided not to put Manaslu as a restricted trekking area anymore. This was a demand since long by trekking entrepreneurs. Till now only a limited number of trekkers could trek to this exotic trekking region bordering with Tibet.
Government registered trekking agencies are now allowed to operate regular groups there and there is no limit on the number of trekkers.
The trekking permit fee for manaslu is also reviewd. The new fees are as follows
Sep to Nov USD 35/week
Dec to Aug USD 25/week
Simillarly Rolwaling region is also opened for regular treks , with an entry fee of USD 10/week.
Nepal enjoys substantial increase on tourists arrival
After suffering a decade of recession, Nepal's tourism industry is enjoying a big increase in tourists arrival.A good increase was expected but not to this extent – says an official of Nepal tourism board.According to Nepal tourism board, the number of tourist arrival is going to cross the record of half a million by the end of 2007. The growth percentage is very high from major source countries like the USA, Germany, France, Japan and India. The new markets like Korea and China also showing very encouraging results.
More airlines start their flights to Kathmandu.
With the growth in the number of visitors more and more airlines are starting their flights in Nepal. Lack of enough seats in peak tourist seasons have always been the biggest problem for tourism industry. The new comers are Silk Air of Singapore, Ethihad of UAE and Dragon Air and Hong Kong Express of Hong Kong.
